Parenting8 Important Lessons on Life, Parenting and Leadership We Can Learn from the World’s Greatest Brands

August 15, 2019

As shared in our previous post, MindChamps has now joined the ranks of internationally-renowned brands as the latest case study by #1 New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Dr Joseph Michelli – as featured in his newest book, The MindChamps Way – How to Turn an Idea into a Global Movement.

Dr Michelli was in Singapore recently to launch The MindChamps Way, which is now available at all major bookstores. During his visit here, he also conducted a one-day workshop where he shared the secrets to customer satisfaction and brand success, based on the legendary organisations that he has written about (Mercedes-Benz, MindChamps, Starbucks and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company).

Held at the Pan Pacific Hotel, the workshop was attended by founders and business professionals in Singapore from varied industries – who came, and saw, and were inspired!

Here, we share some highlights and one-liners from Dr Michelli’s sessions on the Lessons from the Legends:

Joseph Michelli sharing some of the lessons we can learn from the books he wrote.

On important life lessons

1. It is one thing to listen to what others are saying, but to be really in tune, we need to practice interactive listening: Repeat | Paraphrase | Clarify | Probe | Remember

2. “Zero fear without respect is like a rebel without a cause.” – David Chiem, MindChamps Founder CEO & Executive Chairman, on explaining MindChamps’ tagline of 100 Respect, Zero Fear

3. “Rewards can deliver a short-term boost – just as a jolt of caffeine can keep you cranking for a few hours. But the effects wear off – and worse, can reduce a person’s longer-term motivation to continue the project.” – Daniel Pink, Author

On parenting views

4. 4 Rules of Parenting which Dr Michelli lives by:

– Show up

– Pay attention

– Tell the truth

– Pay more attention to the journey rather than the destination

5. “Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children.” – Walt Disney

On leadership and culture

6. Culture is the sustainment for your strategies – because the best strategies are nothing without the people who make them happen.

7. Leadership is doing the right thing – while management involves managing the right behaviour.

8. If leaders don’t live and breathe their values, then your company values are then just pretty words on paper.
